Yeast infection following antibiotics?

I’ve heard that a lot of women get a yeast infection immediately following a round of antibiotics for whatever reason.
My question is that it usually takes me longer than that to get mine…is this abnormal?
I’ve had about 3 yeast infections in my life because of antibiotics and they usually only happen about 2 or 3 weeks after I stop taking the pills.
Most recently I had strep throat and finished my round of antibiotics about 3 weeks ago and noticed

It could be normal for you. It depends on how long it takes for the antibiotics to kill off the good bacteria and how long it takes the yeast to grow to be enough to be a yeast infection.
happens to me almost everytime..
you should take antibiotic as little as possible :: your body will become dependent on them over time & won’t be strong enough to fight off infection on it’s own :: in the future you should try natural antibiotics like honey: garlic & colloidal silver =]
I supposed that is possible, odd that it takes that long but it is a common problem. This is due to the fact that antibiotics are not targeted at a single causative microorganism, like the strep infection in your throat it just kills various type of germs even those naturally found in the body: GI tract (which can cause diarrhea, vagina (causes overgrowth of fungus or yeast).
You are probably allergic to the medication which are either Cillin (like Penicillin) or Cyclin (like Tetracycline) based.
I’m allergic to the Cillin side of antibiotics, and I can’t take any form of them. I have to stick with the Cyclin side. If I do take a cillin, I usually notice the signs of the yeast infection within 2 days.
Make sure you let your doctor know you might have an allergic reaction to the meds they are giving you…it is very important for them to know this.
That might be normal for your body, but it does seem odd. I usually get one while taking an antibiotic, or very shortly after. You seem to be getting one after the antibiotic has totally left your system. It’s possible that you developed it sooner, but just didn’t notice it right away. Maybe when the bad bacteria increased, then you had symptoms. But, I am sure you are fine.
As long as you take some probiotics/acidophilus while on the antibiotics, you can lessen your chances of getting one.
It’s common for someone to develop a yeast infection immediately after taking antibiotics as they kill not only the bad bacteria but also the good one which keeps yeast from growing.
Taking probiotics might help with you problem or taking the natural approach can bring in great results too. I recommend consuming more yogurt and switching to a more healthy diet.
