This is something we have talked about at work all day but no one could come up with an answer. So if there is any Nurse or Doctor who knows, can you help us figure it out?
And if Men do have it what do they use to get rid of it, AZO and Vagisil is all for only women isnt it?

A man can get it and as far as what to use I think it would be okay to rub the yeast creams they have over the counter on the area.

  2. Rhonda & Cats says:

Yes men do get yeast infections, & may not show signs/symptoms. They can take Diflucan (prescription pill) or use the same OTC stuff a woman uses for yeast.

I’m no doctor, but yes, men can get a yeast infection.

An infection is simply an overgrowth of bacrteria (or fungus in this case) somewhere in/on the body.

Yes they can get a yeast infection but its called Athletes foot. I am sure vagisil and AZO can work for athletes foot because yeast is a bacteria. For the men’s private parts yeast infection is a possibility but unknown to me.

Yes men can get yeast infections. If a man has unprotected sex with a woman who has a yeast infection he is likely to get it. They then can continue to pass the infection back and forth between themselves. While a man could use the over the counter medication to treat his infection it is more recommended that he visit a doctor. This will insure that the yeast infection is completly gone and not just masked by over the counter medication.

Men who are uncircumcised can get yeast infections. Monistat or generic Miconazole nitrate creams will cure it. He should use plain water to wash his penis, since soap removes enzymes which counteract the yeast..

It is necessary for both partners to be cured, since you can play ping-pong with the infection.

In 1972 they had an ointment that had a scent to it. A man that I know went into the gas station men’s room to apply it after going to the doctor. He went into a drug store immediately afterwards and a young woman complimented him on his aftershave. She asked him what the brand was.

yeah, men can get yeast infections, but i think it’s only when they catch it from their girlfriends…if their girlfriend has one.

and i think you need antibiotics to treat it just like a women, and you can use the regualr stuff like monistat..

    i looked up some stuff..

Yes, you can get a yeast infection from sexual contact with a woman who has a vaginal yeast infection. The same yeast that causes vaginal infections in women can cause infections of the penis in men. However, just because your girlfriend has a genital yeast infection doesn’t mean you’ll get one.

Signs and symptoms of a male yeast infection include a red rash, itching or burning at the tip of your penis. Fortunately, most male yeast infections are easily treated with over-the-counter antifungal treatments, such as Monistat.

To treat a male yeast infection, apply the medication directly to the affected skin twice daily for a week. If the rash doesn’t go away or if it recurs frequently, consult your doctor. Persistent or recurrent yeast infections can be associated with other medical conditions such as diabetes.

When one partner has a genital yeast infection, it’s important for both partners to get treatment. Your girlfriend could infect you, treat her own infection and then get reinfected by having sex with you again. For this reason, it’s generally recommended that you refrain from sexual intercourse until all signs and symptoms of the infection are gone.

Yes men can get yeast infections.

Especially, if they had sex with a female who had a yeast infection.

If a man excretes yellowish mucous from his penis, and it itches and burns, and can be a yeast infection.

    and it will smell too.

I know from experience that Men can get yeast infections and yes im uncircumcised. In my experience there is no kind of discharge or smell. My symptoms were my foreskin starting to dry up and itching and the head began to get red bumps. First time this happened i freaked out and went to the doctor which cost a lot of $$$$ just for them to basically tell me to buy OTC medication. I have used AZO yeast and Lotramin(antifungal) and it clears up with in 2 to 3 days. Doctor told me male yeast infections isnt just b/c you got it from a girl. If your uncircumcised… moisture can get traped in the foreskin and cause bacteria to grow.
