i read that 3 / 4 of women have yeast infections…it sounds like it is rare…but i get them ALL of the time!?

what could be the cause of this? i shower daily, dry myself very well, wear cotton underwear and don’t wear jeans that are too tight, but usually switch to shorts or sweats at home anyway…its getting really frustrating, esp since i stay away from sex when they occur…its relaly causing a riff between my bf and I since i’m embarrassed to keep telling him that I have them…
i meant that 3/4 was astonishing because I thought it was more rare…but seemed like a weird statistic because it was 3/4 will get one one time in their life, not over and over…
sorry for wording it wrong
i eat yogurt and always always always use condoms (bc pills made me really sick)…

i am taking antibiotics, and i read that some condoms can cause it due to the latex or lube…

i will have one a month or so…and treat it and it comes back…or reoccurs…

i have had vaginisitis….or whatever it is…this isnt it…i went to the gyn for that…that was bad…this is just your run-of the mill yeast infection…but i have a gyn appt coming up so ill double check…

Do you realize that 3/4 is 75%, in order words, it’s far from rare. 75% is a really high incidence rate.

  2. Brian T says:

    Try eating yogurt

  3. canadianbiz says:

Caused by eating too much Bread.

  4. truefirstedition says:

Three out of four is a huge majority – 75%! Some women are just more prone to them than others.

You should be honest with your boyfriend about your health.

  5. Skittels S says:

some people are just more prone to it

  6. beachgirl says:

Talk to your Dr to make sure that this isn’t the same infection, you may need stronger antibiotics.

  7. yankee94 says:

  8. jandy says:

might be diabetic or it may not be a yeast infection.

  10. . says:

3/4 women is not rare. that is 75%. MOST women get them.

  11. THE EMPEROR says:

3/4 women is actually ALMOST EVERY WOMAN, that statistic means that it is actually fairly common. I personally have never had one, but I know it’s common. If I were you, I’d be more worried about taking a math class.

you should not keep them all of the time are you sure that they are yeast infections you may want to go to the doc and make sure there are other infections that will look like a yeast infection and not be

  15. sweetiefreck says:

Are you taking some kind of medication, or birth control pills? If you are that might be the cause, if not, you’re prob just not getting completely rid of it

  16. Lizzy says:

you should eat yogurt every day
I know this sounds silly but buy the yogurt with the yeast in them
3/4 is 75 out of 100 women so more that 1/2 the women in the world get them all the time
you need to get you body balanced try that Activia that is what it is for

    Hi.
I know you can get over the counter tmts, but if your getting this many and this frequently, probably should go see the gynie. It’s way too many and it may not be yeast.

it could be something that you and your bf are passing back and forth.

    hope this helps.

75% is alot of women. It’s perfectly normal.

  19. whoopwhoop says:

    don’t eat so much bread!
make sure not to stay in a wet bathing suit for long.
don’t use perfumed tampons or soap.
    yogurt does help yeast infections.

  20. Breezy Jo says:

It could be an imbalance of either yeast or bacteria. You should talk to your doctor because frequent yeast infections can cause permanent damage as well as long lasting ones. They can also be a sign of a different or potenitally more dangerous problem.

  21. Kirstie says:

this is a super crazy fact i found out a few years ago…if your bf drinks a lot of beer and yall have sex without a condom its a really high chance you will get one. so maybe thats it if he drinks a lot of beer and eat More yogurt its a natural preventative. and go to the dr and get something if non of this helps

  22. Brown Sugar says:

cut back on your consumption of starch and sugar.

  23. rock star mommy says:

being too clean could make it stinky down there. yeast is a product of warm moist places…and guess what, thats something you can not get rid of down there…its not like you can put in an AC and a dryer…..

3/4 of people is NOT rare…thats more than half hunny. every one has or will have gotten a yeast infection in their life time. no doubts about it.

although. if you are getting these symtoms ALOT you may have more than ‘just’ a yeast infection…it could be something more serious, like an STD….you need to get to your dr and be checked for everything. and you have to let him know in case you are infected with something….because if it IS soemthing more serious, and he is not treated–you find out that it could be deadly (not impossible…) but you could be held accountable IF something were to happen….

    see yer GYN. :)

  24. Rule of thumb says:

I know that eating a serving of yogurt a day greatly reduces the risk of yeast infection.

  25. kristel s says:

i have never had one… ask a doctor. or go to webmd.com that might be a good place :D

  26. hamrrfan says:

You may be getting it from your boyfriend if he has not been treated.

    "Can men get yeast infections?
Yes, men can contract a yeast infection if they have unprotected sexual activity with a partner who has a yeast infection. If both partners are not treated, they can keep re-infecting each other. …"

  27. southern girl says:

you might be eating or drinking something that is causing you to continuously get yeast infections, such as eating too much bread or anything that contains yeast.

  28. archer1203 says:

Don’t deuce if you do. Make sure you wipe front to back (very important). You might want to try using condoms. I also heard that body washes could be a factor. Alot of women of child bearing age, for some reason, get them. If they keep occuring go to your doctor, you might be getting vaginitis (there’s another name for it i can’t remember right now). Hope this helps, good luck

  29. ~nikki~lynn~ says:

3/4 is way more than half. Have you ever thought maybe your not getting rid of them. Or are you douching? this could destroy good bacteria and cause a over growth of yeast. Another thing is your boyfriend could pass this back to you if he isn’t treated, I know you say you don’t have sexual contact while your infected but, Im sure your infected before the first symptom appears.I ve been married for 9 years so I don’t really care what my husband thinks…lol, I just buy the cream and say when you get out of the shower rub this on your self.

  30. Ally H says:

I don’t know why you keep getting yeast infections, but here are some questions to ask yourself:

Are you on antiobiotics? If so they can help kill off healthy bacteria needed to keep the pH balance where it should be in order to prevent a yeast infection.

Are you on birth control pills? Believe it or not, BC pills can cause yeast infections.

Do you have diabetes? People with diabetes have a tendency to get yeast infections more often.

Do you consume a lot of alcohol? Consuming a lot of alcohol can help cause yeast infections.

Are you taking any steroid medications? Ie: pregnazone? They can cause yeast infections.

Also, when you shower daily are you washing with soap? Because soap can disrupt the pH balance and cause yeast infections. Try to avoid getting soap in the vagina area. Wash around.

Change your diet. Yeast feeds on sugar, vinegar, fungus, and fermented foods. If you eliminate or severely reduce the amount you consume, the yeast will have nothing to feed on and will die. You can also look up foods with the bacteria acidophilus. Acidophilus is the natural, "healthy" bacteria in our digestive tracts. Taking acidophilus counteracts the overgrowth of yeast bacteria.

    Hope this helps!

  31. Mii says:

Recurrent yeast infections can be an underlying symptom of another disorder like diabetes, or, as some scientist believe, even HIV.

Not all vaginal infections, though, are actual yeast infections. Some other infections look and feel just like yeast infections but are actually something else. You need a doctor’s diagnosis to be 100% sure.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to see your gynecologist. They will be able to examine you and tell you for certain what, if anything, is going on.

  32. Kezia M says:

it means 3 in 4 women get them.
dear they aint rare ive had them a few times.
u interperated it the wrong way. so its not rare
they wouldnt make a treatment if it was rare.
    they are very common.
its not caused by eating too much bread at all
believe me. its sex, the pill & just levels in ur body.
u can still get it even if u use condoms.
its just sex in general that can also cause it
so yeah dont worry u aint weird or nothing
