How to get rid of a yeast infection quickly?

Okay, I’m 11, never had my period before, and I may have a yeast infection. I think I do, I have all the symptoms (cottage cheese-like discharge, red skin on the outer vagina, unusual lumps that may hurt, itchy crotch, burning while urinating), and I’m way too nervous to go to my mom about it. I have a male doctor that I would feel funny going to. I’ve heard plain yogurt works, and I’ll try that if nothing else works. I wanted an answer to something I had heard: is it true that putting honey on your vagina for at least 5 minutes can banish a yeast infection? If it can (or can’t), and you have any more suggestions, please tell me, it’s really hard going to school with this itchiness, and I know that Chronic yeast infections are nearly impossible to cure.

Don’t start putting honey or yogurt or any other food in your vagina. It’s so weird that people perpetuate these notions. I assure you that your mom has had to deal with yeast infections before, it’s a perfectly normal (albeit annoying) part of being a woman. You really don’t need to feel nervous or embarrassed about talking with her about it. And, at your age, get used to having awkward conversations with mom, since Aunt Flo is coming to visit you in the next couple years anyway. ;)

Your best bet on your first one is to have it diagnosed for sure first. Again, you’re reaching an age where you are going to have to start having a doctor look around down there anyway, so if you’re uncomfortable with a man, ask to switch to a woman. No one will be bothered, trust me.

Plain yogurt does help… I havent heard about the honey idea though???

I would go to your mama about it. I remember my first yeast infection. I was 13 and scared to death to go to my mama, but I did and she took me to the doc. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

If you can get to the store get some monistat… keep the area DRY and refrain from scratching.

Go to your local pharmacy, there is over the counter medicine that really works.

I had exactly the same earlier this year, I know how you feel, it’s so uncomfortable. Rumours are plain yoghurt soaked into a tampon works a charm, but it’s not guaranteed. I think you should go to the pharmacy and get some Canesten Duo. It’s amazing. If you feel embarrassed, don’t be. There’s nothing to be worried about you haven’t done anything wrong. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine. But if the Yeast Infection keeps coming back, maybe twice or three times again in the same year, def go see your GP. Hope I helped, good luck! :) xx
