Can my yeast infection go away w/out o.t.c. medicine or w/out seeing a dr.?

Is it normal for women to have yeast infections after their menstrual cycle? It seems the last few times I’ve had my menstrual cycle, every other month or so I will have a yeast infection afterwards. However, unlike yeast infections that I have gotten before, I don’t have "leakage" from down there. It is, however, extremely itchy around my vulva area – to the point of being in pain. During past occurences, I’ve used tampons dipped into cold plain yogurt, and it has helped immensely. But this time, I’ve been doing the same thing, and the itching isn’t going away – - prior times the infection has gone away within two days using the yogurt method. I don’t have the $$ to spend to go see a doctor, plus pay for the expensive medicine he’ll prescribe to me, nor do i have the $ to get over the counter medicine. For pain/itchiness, my mum suggested taking a baking soda bath – but cool in temperature…has anyone heard of this? Any ideas? 10 points for best answer!

You really need to be sure if you have a yeast infection or something else going on. You may be able to go to a women’s clinic at your local health department, etc. Also, there are generic medications you can get that won’t cost much to treat a yeast infection (try Walmart’s generic $4.00 list) If you are plagued with recurrent yeast infections, try acidolphilius capsules. You can get them in the vitamin/natural remedy section at the store. They really do help with yeast infections. It’s not likely to go away without some kind of intervention though, and it sounds miserable..

I can tell you now hon – that is just one BIG yeast infection that has not gone away OR it is an std.

yeast infections are curable by buying over the counter medicines that cost about $20-30.

Go to your local pharmacy and ask for one. If you cant afford that, then i really really feel sorry for you. You must be eating out of other peoples garbage cans.

you do not have to go to a doctor to get a prescription….there medicines that they use to give out on prescription is available over the counter for several years now…..usually its a seven day course treatment of monistat……..for less then twelve dollars….you can get the ones that is one to three day treatments..but do not…they cause me to have a bit of pain using them….when i had to use them…the ones that are seven day..get rid of it and do not cause the burning that you get from using hte one to three day ones…they burn like crazy…..i would use the monistat but if the yeast keeps coming back…it maybe that your body has a yeast infection all over and you need a prescription pill to take…sometimes when you take too many antibiotics.. it will cause yeast infections….and it will get all over your body….i had strep throat once and the antibiotics cause that for me….but if it continues … you might have ot see doctor to get it cleared up

You need to address the reason you are getting all these infections.

    Here are some tips:
    Use cotton panties.
    Don’t wear thongs.
Don’t wear tight pants especially when exercising.
Make sure you can "breathe" down there.
    Change your pads often.
If you have a partner, he/she maybe a carrier and need treatment too.

Yeah, the yogurt douche thing actually works sometimes.
The human vagina is naturally acidic, this is it’s primary defense against infection. It maintains the acidity because of friendly bacteria that produce lactic acid.
Active culture yogurt also contains such bacteria.

There could be a few medical reasons you are getting so many. 2 a year is the norm. The amount of out breaks doesn’t mean a STD. That person is just trying to scare you. If you are sure it is a Yeast infection just buy the meds. now to get relief.
But keep in the back of your mind that you need to get to a free clinic some time near the next time. So they can diagnose the problem. It is very important you get it taken care of. It can go into a greater infection easily. It could be that your immune system needs to be built up better. Pro-biotics such as acidophiles is something to look into also. If your under age Mom needs to see you get help. Good luck!

    Vaginal Yeast Infections
    What Happens

Vaginal yeast infections often clear up on their own without treatment, usually when menstruation begins. Menstrual blood raises the vaginal pH, causing the number of yeast cells to decrease because they can’t grow in the pH present during menstruation.

There are significant differences between occasional, easily treatable yeast infections and recurrent infections that seriously affect a woman’s life. Recurring vaginal yeast infections can be difficult to prevent or cure. Women who have recurring yeast infections should be evaluated for underlying causes (such as treatment- resistant strains of yeast, diabetes, or hormone therapy) so that the cause can be treated or reversed.
Can you get help from parents, friends in order to get this condition healed up, borrow $ and then return when you are able to work. Antibiotics will often cause yeast, it does not mean that you have STD

This may be lingering infection. The yogurt treatment is a good idea. I also suggest you EAT a cup of yogurt every single day for about a month. Try to incorporate it and/or cottage cheese into your diet more regularly after ward. This will put more bacteria in your system to fight the yeast. The vagina has yeast and bacteria and as long as it has equal amounts of both, it’s fine. Once one outgrows the other, you either end up with a yeast infection or a bacterial infection. If after a month or so you’re still having problems, go to the doctor.
