Treatment for hyperpigmentation?

I have had two very bad cases of cutaneous candidiasis (basically a yeast/fungal infection), causing hyperpigmentation to the affected area, which is the groin/buttocks. What treatment is available to get my skin color back to normal (I am a white male)? Thanks in advance.
I seen something about hperpigmentation on TV. You would need a series of laser treatments to restore the skin to normal colour. It is quite expensive, but gives excellent results.
