Can somebody tell me what is yeast infection?

I read it here,but i don’t exactly understand what is yeast,if the pregnant woman has a yeast infection how she can now,which are symptoms?
Like 2 days i have light pains inside my vagina,but this happen just in the afternoon and last like 1-2 hours,it’s like pain or like pushing, i don’t to explain.
i heard here in yahoo answer but i don’t understand what is,i am not english or american..
