I have had one with all four of my kids, so I am guessing it might have to do with how your body processes sugar during pregnancy? The placenta can cause the woman to have gestational diabetes, so I am thinking the excess sugar gives the yeast more to feed on? This is pure speculation–I am not a doctor! The web-site says people who have diabetes (not just gestational) are more likely to have yeast infections. It also mentions something about hormonal imbalances. It sounds like to me, though, that it could also have something to do with the insulin and not processing sugar properly.
With my first child, I had yeast infections constantly, as well as UTI’s, which are urinary tract infections. I asked the doctor why, and he had no answer for me which isn’t going to help me in future pregnancies. Just ask your obgyn or his/her nurse… They may have an answer for you.
I did not get one yeast infection or one bladder infection while I was pregnant. But from what I understand alot of people get them while they are pregnant.
Yes you can and they are prone for bladder infections as well. Because of the hormones and the baby pushing against your bladder etc it makes you more prone. Pregnant women tend to be susceptible to anything especially to food poisoning and flu because their immune system is being suppressed so that it won’t attack the baby and that causes you to get ill easier.

It can be quite commen for pregnant women to get thrush etc, I believe it’s because of hormones.
Be careful what you take for it, as I got told by my doctor not to take any thrush capsules by mouth; I was only allowed to use external cream.
Ask your doctor or pharmasist what is suitable for use during pregnancy before you buy anything.
