Can you mess up the balance of bacteria on your penis?

I’ve heard that females should be careful to not wash their vaginas too much or it will mess up the beneficial bacteria and cause yeast infections, same if they take antibiotics. Is the same true for male genitalia?

Actually, the bacteria imbalance takes place in the intestines. Guys who are on antibiotics could possibly get a yeast infection, also. Women are more prone because vagina’s are moist. Fungus tends to go where the moist areas are.

It has to do with "bad" anaerobic bacteria which "invade" and displace the "good" anaerobic bacteria in areas where there’s little access to air. The inside of a vagina is one of such places. In case of a man, the risk is much less because it’s only limited to the urethra, and under the foreskin. If you wash under your foreskin once a week, then this indeed might be a problem, but if you do it every day, then that bacteria never has a chance to multiply and cause problems. Circumcised men don’t have that problem at all.

    Yes.

All of us have friendly and harmful bacteria on our skin. Overcleaning can destroy the friendly bacteria, leaving the harmful bacteria to overgrow.

In addition, overcleaning strips the natural oils from the skin, causing it to become dry and brittle, which can lead to infection because of the small cuts.

The obsession that some Americans have with genital hygiene frequently does more damage than good.

True believer’s answer is incorrect. A non-circumcised penis isn’t inherently dirty, and there are Langerhans cells in the foreskin, which have known antibacterial and antiviral properties.

Circumcised males get infections, and also have genital odor just as frequently as intact, unmutilated males.

Circumcision is a fraud and a hoax.

A foreskin is not a birth defect; it is a birthright.
